| Athens, OH is center of the �Windy Nine� motorcycle routes that all start and end in Athens. (�Windy� as in curvy)! Hills, curves, great vistas - it�s all about the roads in this area and we will be experiencing three of the www.windy9.com routes - each is about 100 miles. Along the way will be scenic stops, funky shops, a cave, art galleries in a Dairy Barn.
The trip starts early Friday evening for group dinner (GROUP DINNER CANCELLED with departure at 5:30) on the east side (Eastgate area at Bob Evans). After dinner, it�s about a 2-1/4 hr. Drive to the host hotel in Athens, OH (Fairfield Inn). We have a block of 20 rooms reserved until May 1 with the special rate of $109/ night which includes hot breakfast. I would suggest making your reservations early with the Miata Group online link at the bottom of this message. Saturday we take to the hills driving the �Rim of the World� through Burr Oak State Park and Wayne National Forest. Lunch in Stockport at the Mill Inn and continuing with more twisty roads and sights after lunch. Dinner on your own Saturday night with plenty of choices within walking distance of the hotel. Sunday�s drive will be an extended �Zaleski Zipper� drive through Zaleski State Forest and Wayne National Forest. Lunch stop will be in Historic Nelsonville with shops and the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway. For those people interested in taking a train ride from 1pm to 3 pm, you can get your tickets online at www.hvsry.org for $16 seniors/military or $18 adults. When booking, select the Nelsonville East Logan Train Ride, then select book now and choose the 1pm ride on Sunday the 30th. This is a popular ride and will sell out early so PLEASE BOOK YOUR TICKETS NOW if you want to go. For those not wanting to do the train ride, you can easily pass the 2 hours waiting for the train to return in Nelsonville. After the train returns, the ride continues through more beautiful roads and interesting stops. Again, dinner on your own. Monday, it will be checkout time and our route will be the �Lazy Rivers� tour modified a bit with more back roads, stops and dinner on the way back to east side of Cincinnati by early evening. | Directions: From the north on 275, take the 32 Exit but stay in left lane on exit. Left at light on 32 East, then exit right on Eastgate Blvd, right at light, then right at next light to Bob Evens parking lot. From the south on 275, take the 32 exit but stay in the left hand exit lane for Eastgate.
